Team Magpie have just signed a young Romanian rider with considerable potential, Antonie Danilescu, from the top division ekaitz team. He joins his compatriot, and current team leader, Gaius Barcauan at the young New Zealand born team which is very multinational, having 8 nations represente by the ten riders. The team has only been around for 2 and a half seasons and have struggled to rise up the divisions. twice we've worked up to division 8 but haven't managed to compete at that level. We've also struggled financially at times, relying heavily on rider jobs to keep the team afloat. However Gaius Barcauan, one of the first international signings by the team, has developed a lot in the last season and has got a number of results and top tens. The team is now building and hoping to develop some of it's other riders, such as Romdhane Ouerfelli and Hungarian Radics Zoltan who have shown potential as classics riders. Danilescu is the second signing in the last few months, after Sofus Vikarrson the Icelandic rider, who should become a strong workhorse for the team. With these new riders the team hopes to develop further to a point where it can rise up the divisions with the strength to stay there and consistently perform. We'll be looking to sign more young riders with good potential in the near future.
